Midnight Caine – Mirrors (2012)

“Mirrors” ist Midnight Caine’s drittes Album. Die Band begann das Album 2011 zu schreiben, als sie sich zum Trio verwandelten. “Mirrors” ist sehr eingängig und verfolgt schon fast einen kommerziellen Weg, aber dennoch haben Midnight Caine nichts von ihrem atmosphärischen, dramatischen Klang verloren. Midnight Caine verbrachten mehr Zeit im Studio was eine ganz neue Seite des Songwritings offenbahrte. Da der Rest der Tracks erst 2012 entstand könnte man sagen das “Mirrors” ein Resultat aus zwei verschiedenen kreativen Prozessen ist. “Mirrors” verbindet auf theatralische Weise Geistergeschichten mit Comic und klassischem Horrorfilmgefühl. Aber auch eine ernste Seite kann dem Album abgewonnen werden, welche hier und da zum Vorschein kommt.

Mirrors is Midnight Caines third album. The band started to write on the album in 2011, when Midnight Caine changed to become a trio. In a way Mirrors comes closer to a more commercial sound. Nevertheless, the true Midnight Caine atmosphere and drama are all there, as always. Regardless, the band took a new direction of songwriting and spent more time in the studio working with the songs and shaping the album into the new vision. In 2012 more songs were written and some of them ended up on the album. One could say that the album is a result of two different creative processes which merged together. Thematically, Mirrors is in its parts a blend between ghost-stories, comic and classic horror film feel. It also has a serious side which shines through in the atmospheric sections on the album.
